AW3 Laser Tattoo Removal in Bournemouth, Poole, Dorset, Ringwood & surrounding areas

Many people have unwanted tattoos, or tattoos that they would like faded down in order to cover them up with a new design. At Resolve Clinic we offer the latest laser technology for the fastest and safest removal of your unwanted tattoos with fantastic results. Our lasers utilise the latest equipment which is the Allwhite3000 Nd Yag Q-switched laser technology.

Tattoo ink particles are too large for the body’s immune system to remove naturally because when tattoo pigment is injected into the lower layers of the skin (dermis) it becomes locked away by a wall of collagen fibres. The advanced Q-switched lasers produce very short bursts of high energy laser light.

The light is absorbed by the large ink particles, generating heat that shatters the tattoo pigment into minute particles which the body is able to remove. Because the tattoo ink selectively absorbs the laser energy, the surrounding skin doesn’t overheat and there is no lasting damage. This is the industry ‘Gold Standard’ and is the fastest, safest and most reliable method for tattoo removal.

Several factors come into play when considering removing a tattoo. We are committed to providing you with the best treatment plan specific to your needs. Arrange for a free consultation today to see how we can help.

How long will it take to remove my tattoo?

A course of 4-6 treatments is often enough to remove the tattoo depending on the colour and depth of the tattoo ink. To allow the skin to recover between Laser Tattoo Removal sessions, you can only have treatment every 6-8 weeks.

Is tattoo removal painful?

Laser tattoo removal can cause a stinging sensation but most people do not experience high level of discomfort during the treatment. Local anaesthetic cream can be used and/or pain relief, such as paracetamol. Redness in the area is common after the procedure, but subsides quickly. The skin will be sensitive after your treatment so we recommend high-factor sun block and aloe vera.

I want to fade my tattoo so I can have a new design, how many treatments will I need?

A tattoo can be faded adequately to re-cover after a couple of sessions. Your practitioner will be able to advise how many sessions you are likely to need during your consultation.

Is tattoo removal safe?

Yes, it’s very safe. The laser energy is selectively absorbed by the tattoo ink only, meaning that surrounding tissues are not affected and there is no lasting damage to the skin.

Whats the difference between laser tattoo removal and other methods?

Other tattoo removal methods do not involve lasers. We do not recommend the following methods of tattoo removal because they can cause scarring and have a high risk of infection.

  • Tattoo removal creams – these work by dissolving the tattoo using chemicals such as hydroquinone, kojic acid, alpha arbutin and TCA. They cannot completely remove a tattoo, but may reduce its appearance in some cases
  • Dermabrasion tattoo removal – this involves using an abrasive device to blast the surface of the skin in order to break down the tattoo and remove the top layers of skin. A local anaesthetic is usually administered as this is a painful method of removal
  • Salabrasion – this works in a similar way to dermabrasion but involves applying water and salt in addition to an abrasive device in order to lift and remove layers of skin
  • Acid tattoo removal – some people are now using acids, similar to those used in chemical skin peels, to burn away layers of the skin in order to get rid of their tattoos. Many health professionals strongly advise against this method.

I’ve had my tattoo done recently, is it easier to remove?

The ink particles of the tattoo will have been injected deep into the dermis (the second layer of skin). In order to reverse this process effectively, the pigment within the skin needs to be broken down using targeted lasers. Don’t be fooled into believing that if you have a change of heart shortly after getting your tattoo it can be easily removed.

What skin types can you treat?

We can treat all skin types with the All white 3000 ND YAG Q-switch technology. If you are in good health (no serious health concerns) and do not have hypo/hyper- pigmentation, tanned or Keloid scarring in your family or personal history.

What colours can you remove?

In principle the laser can remove all kind of tattoos. Since all tattoos are not the same in terms of colour, depth of ink deposition as well as their chemical composition some may respond differently. Black, red dark orange and dark blue tattoos will typically respond better to treatment with laser. However Brown, purple, green, light orange, neon and light blue colours are harder to remove and will require more sessions.

When can I see results?

You can see results after the first laser tattoo removal session.

Does the laser tattoo removal cause scarring?

Although there is a risk of scarring with any laser, in most cases, scarring is not a significant risk for tattoo removal with the ND Yag laser. Tattoo removal has become associated with scarring because the older generation of lasers used for tattoo removal were very aggressive and carried a very high risk of scarring. The ND Yag laser does not heat the surrounding skin significantly and the risk of scarring is much reduced. The risk of scarring is mainly associated with a genetic pre-disposition to forming scar tissue and the presence of resistant, green pigment.
